Summer Music Camps

  • Southeastern Chamber Music Institute: The Southeast Chamber Music Institute offers performance and instructional opportunities in a variety of settings in small homogeneous and mixed ensembles including strings, brass, winds, percussion, and jazz combo (including horns, piano, bass, and drums).  Students will receive a private lesson, master class instruction, and hear concerts by resident faculty artists. A limited number of students can also be accepted for composition lessons with the composer-in-residence. http://www.tntech.edu/scmi/
  • Summer Music Institute: The Institute differs from our traditional summer experience in a number of ways.  A performance-intensive curriculum will serve advanced students who are seriously considering music as a major area of study in college.  All Summer Music Institute students will participate in a chamber ensemble coached by Institute faculty.  Students will also enjoy numerous lectures and laboratory exercises which are designed for the advanced musician.  Summer Music Institute students will also receive a free one-hour private lesson from UGA Hodgson School of Music faculty. http://www.uga.edu/music/summercamp/Summer%20Music%20Institute.htm
  • Summer Marching Band Camp: The University of Georgia Summer Marching Band Camp is an intensive five day event. Campers choose to develop techniques and practices from the various areas of marching band including Drum Major, Marching Percussion, Twirlers, Dancers, Rifles, Sabers, Color Guard, and Band Leadership. The camp staff includes award-winning specialists in each area, drum corps instructors, Redcoat Band members, and faculty instructional staff from the University of Georgia Redcoat Band.http://www.uga.edu/music/summermarchingbandcamp/
  • Sewanee Summer Music Festival: The Sewanee Summer Music Festival, at The University of the South, in Sewanee, Tennessee, is an internationally acclaimed summer festival which combines a five week program for advanced music students and a professional concert series. The Festival was established in 1957 to provide a comprehensive training program emphasizing performance experience. Sewanee not only prepares students for the challenges professional musicians must meet, but also makes them lifetime lovers of music. http://www2.sewanee.edu/ssmf/festival_home
  • "Step Off" Music Camp: Step Off is a division of the UGA Summer Marching Band Camp which provides beginning marching band students an opportunity to learn the basics of marching fundamentals before participating in their school's marching band program. The program is designed for students who have anxieties about joining a marching band or for those who wish to get a "sneak peek" of what marching band is all about before beginning the school year. http://www.uga.edu/music/summermarchingbandcamp/Step%20Off.htm
