Marcie Smith, RBHS Band Director: Marcies' love of music started by playing guitar in 5th grade at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School. She was a member of the youth choir playing guitar and singing for 4 years.
  When she first entered
Notre Dame High School, she was a member of the singing group "Irish Blessings" playing guitar and singing for 4 years. Her sophomore year she joined the band playing flute and piccolo, and participated in both marching and concert seasons for the next 3 years. In her Junior year, her passion for the French Horn began when she started playing during concert season.
She was inducted into the National Honor Society as a sophomore, and also graduated Notre Dame with honors and a 3.30 grade average.
  Marcie went to audition on French Horn for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC), and passed with flying colors, receiving a FULL 4 year scholarship. She was a member of the UTC marching and concert band for 4 years, and also the
UTC Orchestra and a Low Brass Quintet for 6 years. While at UTC in the summer months, Marcie was also asked to be the low brass coach and  a marching instructor for Gus Grissom High School in Huntsville,AL, Red Bank High School, Notre Dame High School, and Soddy-Daisy High School. She has also been asked to play with many of the local church orchestras around Chattanooga such as; Red Bank Baptist; Brainerd Presbyterian; Our Lady of the Mount Catholic Church; Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church; and Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. If you ask her family, anyone that knows her, or her students in the band, they will all tell you "She is a very well-rounded musician & generally pretty awesome!".
